Come for another great night of poetry and fellowship at the Before Your Quiet Eyes bookstore. We're Back on our regular 2nd Wednesday schedule...
Jennifer Hu is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Rochester, applying into psychiatry this spring. She first fell in love with poetry during a haiku session in third grade and hasn't looked back since. In medical school, writing has provided a welcome space for reflection and story-telling. Two years ago, she co-founded the University of Rochester School of Medicine's literary and arts journal murmur with one of her classmates. Every year, they host a reading and launch party at the Rochester Academy of Medicine. Jennifer is the recipient of the 2015 Pharos Poetry Award, Stone Canoe's Bea Gonzalez Prize in Poetry, and the University of Rochester Creative Excellence Award in Medical Humanities.
Don't forget to bring some poems of your own to share during the open mic portion of the event. Usually readers are allowed 1-3 poems, for a total of three minutes.
