Celeste Schantz was the runner-up for the 2018 Stephen Dunn Prize in Poetry, judged by Terrance Hayes. She received a full endowment to the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers Conference, where she studied creative nonfiction with the author Helen Macdonald. She has studied with the writers Marge Piercy and Kim Addonizio. Her work appears in Solstice, Stone Canoe, One Throne Magazine, Poetry International, and other publications. Her first essay “Lake Under the Sea” was a finalist in Fugue journal’s 2018 annual prose writing contest. It appears in Fugue’s spring 2019 issue. Celeste holds a Master’s in Education, and is the founder of The Wonderlings Book Club on Facebook. She works for the public library, leads community reading and discussion groups, and edits Mason Street, the literary magazine of the library system.
